Ken Grey, Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan is not surprised to see that the SaskParty and the NDP are finally making Saskatchewan businesses and employees a priority. "The PC party has been promoting a Priority Saskatchewan campaign since the fall of 2019 and has opposed the NWTPA since it was signed. However we have concerns that even though the SaskParty government is supporting buy local campaigns the New West Trade Partnership Agreement (NWTPA), that the government signed in 2010, will mean even the contract to develop this campaign will have to be tendered out of province" Grey said.
"The NDP has recently come on board with a buy local but did nothing in the 10 years since the NWTPA was signed." Grey added. "As usual they simply chase the latest headline, in this case its the Covid-19 pandemic economic crisis is driving their sudden change."
The PC party recognized the millions of contract dollars and thousands of jobs handed to other provinces in the last 10 years. "The PC party recommends pulling out of this bad for Saskatchewan agreement. We opposed the NWTPA before this crisis and more now than ever we need to do everything we can to protect our businesses and our jobs" Ken said.
