Saskatoon, SK–Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan Leader Rose Buscholl is standing against the collaboration between Teine Energy and the Sask. Party government to develop high school courses in the province.
“Since when is it ok for a political donor of the ruling party be given the authority to create its own classes?” asked Buscholl. “It is a government’s job to govern, not just delegate its responsibilities to the private sector. Especially with a political donor based out of province. What kind of precedent is this setting?”
Teine Energy will collaborate with educators at Sask. DLC to develop new online Oil and Gas 20 and 30 courses. In each course, students will take 50 hours of online theory and 50 hours of work placement, giving students hands-on learning experiences while they explore potential career paths. The energy company is providing a total of $150,000 over two years to support both the development of the new online courses and the coordination of student work placements.
“The Moe government can’t seem to get its act together to end the stalemate with Saskatchewan teachers, Buscholl asserted, “but they always have time to defer to the whims of their donors. This shows without a doubt who they are really working for, and it is not the people of this province.”
