PC Partys of Saskatchewan believe Billboards during the By-election violated the Elections Act

Aug 21, 2023 | News

“We need stricter enforcement on The Elections Act, 1996 regarding advertising” says Interim Leader Rose Buscholl.  The Sask Party placed province wide billboards regarding teacher’s salaries. The timing of these billboards breeches the rules set out in The Election Act, 1996 section 277.1, outlining advertising during an election period.

Buscholl said “this was a province wide campaign that came out not only at the early stages of bargaining for teachers’ contracts, but also during the by-election.”

“The Election Act, 1996 is there to ensure fairness and integrity to the democratic process, and by ignoring sections of the act shows a blatant disregard for that process” Buscholl said.
