PC Leader Buscholl Calls for Official Investigation Into “Motel Scandal”

Feb 15, 2024 | News

Saskatoon, SK–Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan Leader Rose Buscholl is calling for an official investigation to be opened to look into the growing “scandal” about at least two motels owned by Saskatchewan Party MLA Gary Grewal getting business from the Ministry of Social Services and inflating prices for it.

“When the people’s money is potentially being used in such an inappropriate manner, there needs to be accountability,” states Buscholl. “If the Premier Scott Moe government does not want to do the responsible thing, then perhaps its time for our justice system to have a look.”

After news broke in the fall about a motel owned by Saskatchewan Party MLA Gary Grewal that was getting business from the Ministry of Social Services and inflating prices for it, new information on Tuesday revealed that he is also connected to a second motel doing the same thing. The monetary total for this is running into the hundreds of thousands of dollars so far, perhaps more.

“Is there more to know about this?” Buscholl asks. “More money spent? More motels? More MLA involvement? Have any laws been broken? At best this was unethical, at worst, criminal. The people deserve to know and the guilty punished.”
