Saskatoon, SK–Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan Leader Rose Buscholl is asking Premier Scott Moe to show how he is going to pay for the new spending promises he announced at the SARM convention yesterday.
“Considering the Premier just proclaimed his government is moving forward on the Lake Diefenbaker Irrigation Project and spending a record $342 million for the Municipal Revenue Sharing program,” stated Buscholl, “the real question is where the money is coming from…..especially since we know this very government is $30 Billion in debt and coming off another $1 Billion deficit.”
The Premier announced these two initiatives yesterday (March 14th) in his speech at the annual Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) convention in Regina, SK. According to the Premier, the first 90,000 acres of the Diefenbaker project will begin over the next 12-14 months. He also declared a 14% increase in municipal revenue sharing to the packed house in attendance.
“You can tell it’s an election year the way this government is throwing around money like it is their personal piggy bank,” Buscholl asserts. “But it is not THEIR money, it is the people’s money. And the Saskatchewan Party has shown how terrible stewards they are of it by only being able to balance a single budget in their 17 years in power. Enough!”
