Saskatoon, SK–Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan Leader Rose Buscholl describes Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe’s assertion that he knew nothing about the police investigation into Sask. Party MLA Greg Lawrence until the day it was announced as “laughable.”
“The Premier is either displaying dereliction of his duty to keep his MLAs ethical or he is being less than honest,” states Buscholl. “Neither of these options should be satisfactory to the people of Saskatchewan. Here, accountability means something.”
Charged with assault and assault by choking by the Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS), Lawrence’s first court appearance is set for March 18 in Moose Jaw. “Yesterday (Jan. 30/24), I learned that it was confirmed the MLA for Moose Jaw Wakamow was under active police investigation and resigned,” Premier Scott Moe said in a written statement Wednesday, adding he first heard about the nature of Lawrence’s charges through the media.
“This is not the first time the Premier has not taken responsibility for the actions of HIS team,” Buscholl asserts. “The buck must stop with the Premier.”
