PC Leader Buscholl to Ed. Minister: “Stop with the Arrogance and Get Back to the Bargaining Table”

Colonsay, SK–Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan Leader Rose Buscholl is demanding the Saskatchewan party Education Minister to quit the arrogant posturing and get back to the bargaining table with the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation (STF) and come to an agreement.

“Minister Cockrill’s arrogance seems to know no bounds,” stated Buscholl. “But this is starting to seriously affect the mental and emotional well-being of the students. Enough is enough”

Last week, the STF invited the province to enter into binding arbitration on the issue of class size and complexity, which teachers want to see included in their collective agreement. The STF said that if the government agreed to the arbitration, teachers would return to the table to negotiate on the remaining issues. But Min. Cockrill refused and now this week the STF is ratcheting up the pressure in order to force the government’s hand.

“This has gone well past the point of absurdity,” Buscholl asserted. “If this government can find $1Billion for an irrigation project in the provinces’ couch cushions it can certainly adequately fund education for the kids. Stop with the arrogance and get back to the bargaining table!”
