Regina, SK – Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan Leader Rose Buscholl is demanding more transparency from Premier Scott Moe and the Saskatchewan Party. The mid-term report is out, and Saskatchewan taxpayers are on the hook for even more money, a projected deficit of almost $750 million which is way up from budget projections.
“This announcement clearly demonstrates that the Sask Party are not good stewards with taxpayers’ dollars,” stated Buscholl. “We need to take a much closer look at where all this money is going.”
Premier Scott Moe was quick to lay blame on increased crop insurance payouts, while the blame actually lies with the current sitting government.
“We have spent tens of millions of dollars on a rare earth processing facility. A facility which has to import feedstock from half way around the world to process, and at a cost no one seems to know about,” said Buscholl. “It’s time to start taking a much closer look at projects like this as well as proposed future projects like the Saskatoon Bypass, and the multi-billion-dollar irrigation project, and make responsible decisions with money that belongs to the people of Saskatchewan,” she added.
“The fact that the deficit announcement slipped out a few weeks after the election clearly shows that this government is not committed to any kind of transparency. If these numbers came out before the election, as they should have, I know we would have seen different election results,” Buscholl said. “I know there are numerous people in this province who are now suffering from buyers’ remorse after being duped once again by this corrupt government.”
“Enough of the secrecy. It’s time to open the books for a true forensic audit so Saskatchewan residents know where their hard earned money is going,” she said.
