Regina, SK-The Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan Rose Buscholl is none too happy with Premier Scott Moe on the news that there have been 27 cases of scurvy found in the province. Yes…. scurvy.
“How on earth can this happen in today’s age?” asked Buscholl. “This is not the 17th century, and Saskatchewan is not a pirate ship. Our province is part of a first world country for heaven’s sake.”
This is in response to the news, which broke on November 15th, that 27 confirmed cases of scurvy were recently found in Northern Saskatchewan-in the La Ronge and the Lac La Ronge area. The culprit appears to be the lack of available fresh fruits and vegetables. Transportation and supply efforts have always been an issue in the region. This raises the critical issue of food security for the thousands that live there.
Scurvy symptoms vary from fatigue and joint pain to hair changes, wounds not healing and loss of teeth.
“This is so on-brand for the entire Premier Moe reign,” Buscholl said. “So many times he talks of progress and success yet news like this seems to be happening more frequently. Think of the worst-case scenarios for our province and it likely has already happened.”
“To this we can expand the basic health and well-being of not just individual citizens but entire groups in Saskatchewan. It’s embarrassing, dangerous, and just must stop, Buscholl continued. “The Premier is fast becoming Nero fiddling on the roof as everything around him burns.”
