PC Leader Buscholl to Premier Moe: “What Are You Hiding from Us?”

Saskatoon, SK–Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan Leader Rose Buscholl is demanding to know why the Premier Scott Moe government is failing to release information to the public, as per a ruling from Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP) Commissioner Ron Kruzeniski.

“A healthy democracy demands a government to be open and transparent to the people it represents,” stated Buscholl. “When Premier Moe’s government ignores this, it raises the question: what are they hiding from us?”

A Globe and Mail article last Thursday (May 9th) stated that 13 Saskatchewan government ministries disregarded a ruling from this province’s Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP) Commissioner to simply release information. “In virtually identical response letters, every ministry declined to do so, stating that they had fulfilled their requirements under the law,” the newspaper reported, adding that to FOIP Commissioner Ron Kruzeniski’s ruling that the government needed to comply, the justice ministry said it “does not accept the recommendation.”

“This lack of accountability from the Premier and his crew is staggering,” Buscholl asserted. “They have no problem pretending everything is perfectly fine and dandy. Well, Mr. Premier, if this is true then you and your Ministers should have no problem following the FOIP Commissioner’s ruling. The only way to get accountability from this government is by getting rid of the bullies. Then we can open the books and jail the crooks”
